Nowadays, mass-produced furniture is filled with foam. This has a major impact on the environment, not only during manufacturing, but most of all at the end of the product’s life. Foam also loses its resilience and comfort over the years. During my internship at Alain Berteau Designworks, I learned more about foamfree design. This not only offers a smaller impact on the environment, but also opens up a lot of creative possibilities. Throughout my process I looked for an elegant and relevant design to apply this technique to a seating furniture and matching ottoman.
